Every year, youth groups from all over the country visit to serve at Capitol Hill. They primarily engage in work with our kids and teens. The also do work in service projects.
Do you accept groups to help with your summer program?
Yes. Each year we host anywhere from 5-6 groups per summer. You can contact Kaili Tucker (email@example.com) or call her at 580-504-3868 to schedule your group.
When do you need to schedule your group?
The available spots are usually filled by the 1st of March. We have some group that return every year and so the number of new groups is limited
How much does it cost per person?
There is a fee of $25.00.
What are the funds collected from visiting groups used for?
All money received is used to offset the cost of our summer expenses by contributing to our summer budget. We try to create a great summer experience for our kids so they can experience the love of God through each activity we plan with our summer staff. Your contribution makes a difference!
What will our group do while we are there?
Your group will get to help with our Summer Program. You’ll spend time in Bible and reading class with kids helping them work on their summer curriculum. At lunch and recess you’ll get to play outside and then some days there will be work projects around the building. A normal Summer Program day starts at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. On Fridays we take a field trip and your group is welcome to join us for that week’s adventure!
Where will our group stay while in Oklahoma City?
Housing arrangements are up to your group leader. We’ve had groups stay at a hotel, with host families set up through Memorial Road Church of Christ or at the dorms of Oklahoma Christian.
What days do you have service during the week?
We meet for service on Thursdays 6:30 -8 p.m. and Sundays 4 -6p.m. On both of those days we have a meal that you’re welcome to join us for. To help our kitchen staff plan for meals, please let me know how many are in your group before you come, and I’ll add you to the meal count.
What is our group responsible for financially?
Housing, your food for the week (except those two meal at service), our Friday field trip and any materials you may need for work projects.
Where are some other places we can serve when not at Capitol Hill?
There are a lot of places in OKC you can serve. Many of our groups have worked with the Oklahoma City Regional Food Bank, The Refuge OKC, Edmond Hope Center, and Cross and Crown just to name a few.
